Bali Zoo

Anak Agung Gde Putra

My initial idea when establishing Bali Zoo was to share the beauty of my homeland's wildlife with the community in the surrounding village, Singapadu. As the years went by my vision changed into a broader desire to also share the enchanting beauty of Indonesia's indigenous fauna and flora with a broader audience, i.e. the rest of the world.

A Zoo exists to preserve animals and protect their natural habitats. People do not need to go into the wild to see animals and study them. This will help save their habitats by reducing the amount of human intrusion. Bali Zoo has received an award from the Indonesian Forestry Ministry, specifically for its commitment towards conservation and empowerment of surrounding communities. It is a very important duty for me to secure Bali Zoo's continued existence, because it is my father's legacy.
